Harm was changing Christiana's diaper when Serena came rushing in. "Daddy, who's Mic?" "Mic?" he asked. "Yeah, who is he?" Harm shook his head as finished up. "Where did you hear that name, Rena?" "Well, I was talking to Mommy on the phone and she said, 'I'll be right there, Mic.' I thought she was with Uncle Clayton." "What?" Harm said again. "Did you hang up already?" "No, Evie's still talking to her," Serena replied. "I came to get you... and ask you about Mic." Harm sighed. "You don't need to worry about Mic right now, Rena." The little girl nodded. "Want to talk to Mommy, Christiana?" Serena watched her Daddy leave the room. She was determined find out about Mic. Daddy didn't seem to like him. "Uncle AJ! I'll have to get Evie to help me!" Evelyn handed Harm the phone. "Hey, Marine," Harm greeted. "Hey yourself, Sailor. How are things?" "Good. Evie and Rena are playing a game, Trisha's asleep, and I'm holding Christiana." Harm could almost hear Mac beaming. "So, everything's under control?" "Just fine, honey. How are you doing? Working with anyone of interest?" "I'm okay," she replied. "Not working with anyone special." "Mac, you can tell me. I trust you." "What are you talking about?" Mac asked, feigning shock. "I'm not keep anything--" Harm cut her off. "Rena overheard you talking to Bugme." Mac sighed. "I should have known she would have asked you about him," she said. "Mac, you could have told me. I know you'll remain professional. Besides, he hurt you... he hurt us both." "I'm sorry, Harm." "I forgive you, Sarah. I love you too much." "I love you too," she said. "Well, Sailor, I got to go. Take care!" "You too, Marine." ***************** Mic watched in disgust as Mac spoke to her husband. She should have married him, not that fighter pilot. His idea for the undercover operation was going to work out great. He convinced Webb and the CIA that the only way to catch this "nut" who was killing married female Marine's, was to go undercover with one. *To bad it's me they have to worry about,* Mic thought. "I love you too," Mac said. Mic cringed again. She should be saying that to him! "Ready, Mac?" he asked when she hung up. Mac nodded. "Lets go. Webb is waiting for us at the hotel." She noticed something different about Mic, but couldn't place. Oh well, she knew there'd be plenty of time to figure it out. |
