Mac was helping Christiana and Trish get ready for bed when there was a soft knock on the door.  Nicholas walked in a few minutes later.  "Mommy," he said, rubbing his eyes.

"What is, honey?"

He walked over to her and gave her a hug.  "I'm sorry we scared you today."

"Yeah, Mommy," Christiana said.  "We didn't mean to."

Mac smiled.  "I know you didn't."

"Mommy?" Mac looked over at Trisha.  "What did Daddy mean when he said, you had problems in the past?  It was after I said we could have been kidnapped."

Mac took a deep breath to calm herself.  She knew they would have to tell their children what happened one day.  "For now, I just want you to go to bed. Daddy and I will talk to you about it in the morning, okay?"

She nodded, kissing Mac on the cheek.  Christiana and Nicholas did the same.  "G'night, Mommy," Christiana said.

"Good night, girls." She took Nicholas' hand, and with one last look at her twins, she shut the door.

"I think someone needs to be in bed," she commented to Nicholas.

"Yeah, Mommy. You have a baby growing inside of you, you should get some rest."

"You're so very right.  How about we get you to sleep first?"

"Okay," Nicholas replied around a yawn.

***********

"Hi, Dad!"

Harm looked up to see Evelyn.  "Hi, honey.  How was the party?"

"Great!  We had so much fun!  We played with one of those Ouija boards! You will not believe who we channeled!"

"Just wonderful," Harm said sarcastically.  "You're starting to sound like your Uncle."

Evelyn giggled.  "We spoke to this lady name Marissa Johanson."

Harm choked and beer flew out of his nose. "WHO?"

"What's going on?" Mac asked, coming into the living room.  She had been in the kitchen fixing an onion, bacon, apple sandwich.  Well, that's what she was craving!

"I was just telling Dad that we were playing around with an Ouija board and we contacted some lady named Marissa Johanson."

Mac blinked at Evelyn.  She and Harm had never mentioned Marissa or Michael to anyone.

"Anyway," Evelyn continued, "she said that she killed her husband and for a long time they haunted some hotel on the east coast.  She never mentioned which one."

"How did you get all that from an Ouija board?" Harm asked.

Evelyn shrugged.  "Hey, we were at it for two hours!  She had a lot to say and I guess she couldn't talk through anyone.  I don't know, I'm not a spirit."

"Well, Evie, I think you've had enough excitement for one night.  Go on up to bed."

"Okay, Mom.  Night!"

"Night," Harm replied, watching her go upstairs.

Mac stared at him.  "Let's pretend she didn't just tell us that."

"Works for me," Harm said. "Problem is, you know she's going to tell Bud all about it and he's going to go digging for information.  When he finds out that Michael Johanson was killed in Brookside Manor, he'll come to us."

Mac nodded, sinking into a chair. "Let's just cross that bridge when we come to it.  We have a bigger problem at hand."

"How do we tell the twins and Nicholas about the past?"

"Exactly."

"This could take a while to figure out.  What say I give you a nice massage and we discuss it?"

Mac smiled warmly at her husband.  "After I finish my sandwich," she told him.

"Oh God, what did you put on it this time?"

"Onions, bacon, and apple slices," came the reply.

Harm felt sick to his stomach at the mere mention of those food items together.  "Forget the massage, I'm going to bed!"

"Wait! Harm!" Mac called, watching him run up the stairs.  She shrugged and took a bite of her sandwich.  "Oh well, he's the one who's missing out."
