Harm paced back and forth in front of the trauma room Serena was in.
She had been unresponsive since they arrived at the hospital. After
five long minutes, the Doctor came up to him.

"Is she all right, Dr. Greene?" Harm asked worriedly, watching as they
were getting ready to move her.

"We had another look at her CT scan. She has a small blood clot in her
brain. It was so small, in fact, that we missed it. We're taking her
up to the OR so we can relieve the pressure."

Harm closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Will she be all right?"

"It's hard to say at the moment, Mr. Rabb. We're going to do
everything we can to save your daughter."

"I know you will," Harm replied. They started wheeling Serena towards
the elevator. "Can I...?"

Dr. Greene nodded and watched them enter the elevator. "Damn it," he
muttered.

"Mark, it wasn't your fault," Carol said to him.

"Tell that to Serena's parents."

************

Mac was getting impatient. Harm and Serena should have been home by
now. She glanced at her watch. They were 26 minutes late.

"Mom, I'm sure they're fine," Evelyn said. "Dad probably just stopped
somewhere to pick up Serena ice cream."

"Ike cream!" Hannah exclaimed happily.

Noah winced. "Great job, Evie."

"It's still not like your father to go somewhere and not call." Just
as she said this, the phone rang. Evelyn gave her a smirk. "Hello?
Harm? What's wrong? Oh God! I'll be right there!"

"Mom, is it Rena?"

Mac nodded, her hands shaking as she searched the counter tops for her
car keys. Noah gently grabbed her shoulders. "You're in no shape to
drive," he said. "I'll take you."

"Thank you," Mac responded. She looked at Evelyn, who nodded.

"Don't worry about a thing. I'll keep an eye out on them."

Hannah tugged on Mac's shirt. "Grandma sad?"

"Yeah, sweetie."

"It be okay!" Hannah said.

Mac smiled and gave her granddaughter a hug. She was feeling a little
calmer now. Looking up, she saw that Noah was ready to go. "I'll tell
Aunt Rena you said hi."

She kissed Mac's cheek. "Tanks!"

*************

Harm turned towards the elevator just in time to see Mac and Noah step
off of it. She immediately ran into his arms. "How is she?"

"Not too well," Harm told her. "She had a blood clot in her brain and
they're trying to relieve the pressure."

Mac gasped. "Didn't they see it from the start?"

"It was so small, they couldn't see it, honey," Harm said, holding her
close. He didn't know what else to say so he just continued to hold
her.

Mac just wanted this nightmare to end. That's what it was, right? A
horrible nightmare. In five seconds, she'd wake up in her bed, curled
up in her husband's arms.

The five seconds past and Mac was still where she was. She wanted to
hit something hard. "Harm, I'm sorry."

"For what?" Harm asked, confused. Instead of replying, Mac brought her
fist back and smashed it in her husband's face. She was immediately at
his side after he fell to the floor, holding his nose. He looked up at
her. "Damn, that hurt."

"I'm sorry," she repeated, helping him up. "I needed to feel something
other than pain."

Harm laughed, wincing as he did so. "Couldn't you have found another
way to do it without giving me more?"

A nurse walked over to the couple. "Are you all right?" she asked,
ignoring Mac. "Should I call security?"

"No, just an ice pack will do."

"Are you sure?" She smiled sweetly at him. Mac crossed her arms. The
nurse was obviously flirting with Harm.

"Yes, I'm sure. Just an ice pack, thank you." Glaring at Mac, the
woman left to complete her task.

"Mr. and Mrs. Rabb," a woman said. "I'm Dr Corday, I performed the
surgery on your daughter." The couple nodded. "We were able to
prevent the clot from bursting and she's stable right now."

Mac swallowed around the lump in her throat. "Can we see her?"

"She's being moved into the recovery room. As soon as she's settled, I
bring you to see her. It will be a few hours before she awakens, but
the prognosis is good."

Harm smiled. "Thank you, Doctor."
