"RENA!!" Christiana and Trisha shouted together. Serena turned deep red as her two slightly drunk sisters walked over to her. "Are you ready to go?" she asked. Christiana nodded. "Can the car drive me?" "There's no way in hell I'd let you drive, Chris." Trisha looked at her with hopeful eyes. "You're not either, so get stop staring at me like that." The girls slowly followed Serena out to the car. There were a few other people leaving. "Hey, look! There's Tonya! What's up, girl!!" "Not much! Just finishing up my beer." The girl slammed the bottle onto the concrete then climbed in her car. "I can't believe she's going to drive in that condition," Serena said in shock. "Trish, go tell her to hitch a ride with us." Before Trish could move, Tonya tore away from the curb. "I'm ready to sleep," Christiana said. "Lets go then." Serena waited for them to get in, then started the car. Why did she have such a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach? Serena stopped at a 4-way intersection. "Who cares if it's red, just go, nobody's around!" Christiana called from the back seat. "Yeah," Trisha agreed. "Do something illegal!" "Sure, and with my luck, I'd get caught." A few minutes later, the light turned green. And the other car was speeding so fast Serena couldn't avoid being hit. There was a blinding flash of light and then she felt nothing. *********** Mac was getting her night clothes on when Harm came into the room. She didn't notice his expression. "Who was that on the phone at this hour?" she asked. When he didn't answer her, she looked up. "Harm? Oh God. Are they okay?" "They were taken to Trinity Hospital. I wasn't given any more information than that." Mac nodded and began to get dressed again. She was having a hard time buttoning her shirt because her hands were shaking. He took her hands his. "It's going to be all right," he replied, kiss her forehead. "Why don't you get Maddie and Ni, I'll be down in a few minutes." ************ Maddie held on tightly to Mac's hand. She was very scared. "Mommy, are they going to be okay?" "Daddy's going to find out how they are right now, honey," Mac replied, sitting next to Nicholas. She watched Harm as he went up to the desk. "Excuse me, my daughters were in a car accident and they were brought in..." The woman at the desk nodding. "Mr. Rabb? I'll take you to see the Doctor. He's with one of your daughters right now." "Thank you." Mac looked up at him, then at Nicholas. "Keep an eye on your sister? We'll back in a few minutes." The couple followed the woman to a trauma room. Mac quickly took Harm's hand, afraid of what was beyond the door. Tears formed in her eyes the minute she saw Serena's bruised face. "Mr. and Mrs. Rabb? I'm Doctor Greene, I've been taking care of Serena." "Is she all right?" Mac asked. He nodded. "It looks a lot worse than it is, Mrs. Rabb. She has a slight concussion and a broken arm, but other than that she's just fine. I gave her some mild pain medication so she'll be out of it for a while." "That's good to know," Harm replied. "Is there word on our other daughters?" "Yes, I'll take you to see them." Doctor Greene led them to another room where a woman was helping Christiana. "Doctor Lewis, these are the girls' parents." "I'll be there in a second," she said. "Thank you, Doctor Greene." He smiled. "Glad I could help." Christiana seemed to be sick. "What's wrong with her?" Mac asked. She mentally smacked herself the minute she opened her mouth. She could see it in their eyes. "You're both drunk!" |
