"Move over there," Singer said, pointing to a corner of the room far from Mac. Harm slowly did so. She moved towards the fetal heart monitor. "I see someone's pregnant." Mac glared at Singer. "Get the hell out of here!" "You shouldn't yell like that, Sarah. Especially not when you're pregnant. You could cause distress to your child." "Singer, just tell us what you want," Harm said. Singer smirked. "I want the both of you dead. I tried to make you miserable, but it looks like Sarah didn't believe Meg's e-mail. You tried to trick us into thinking it worked." She shrugged. "Oh well. Harm, you can suffer by watching me kill your wife." "No!" Harm cried. "Are you saying no because you don't want me to kill her, or no because you don't want to suffer?" Singer asked. She looked at Mac. "Can you believe him? He doesn't care if you live or die, he just doesn't want to suffer." Mac definitely did not agree with her assessment of the situation. She took a look at her husband and noticed the slight nod of his head. He had a plan... but first, she had to get out of the way. It was going to be a bit difficult with all the IVs connected to her. Taking a deep breath, Mac swung an arm out at Singer, who dropped the gun on the floor. "You bitch!" Harm lunged for the gun and nearly fainted at the sight of Singer punching Mac hard in the stomach. "Move away from her!" Harm exclaimed, aiming the gun at Singer. "What are you going to do, Rabb?" Singer sneered. "Kill me?" He shook his head. "No, I'm not," he replied, taking a step closer to her. "Good night." Harm swung the gun down on Singer's head. "What's going on in here?" Harm glanced up at the guard. Meg was right behind him. "She tried to kill us," he explained, rushing over to Mac. "Sarah, honey, can you hear me?" "H-Harm," she gasped out. "Meg, could you get a doctor in here please?" She nodded and ran out into the hall. "Let me help you into bed." Mac held tightly onto her husband. "God, Harm, the baby!" **************** Beth led Harm out into the hall. She had given Mac a mild sedative to calm her down. "Are they going to be all right?" he asked. "They'll both be fine," she replied. "Although I probably don't have to tell you how close we came to losing the baby." Harm took a deep breath. No, she didn't need to tell him that. The baby was in distress, but Beth worked a miracle and was able to save his little girl. "Harm?" "Huh?" He shook his head. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" Beth smiled. "It's okay. There's someone who's been waiting to speak with you." Harm saw Meg sitting in one of the many chairs. "You owe her your life as well as the life of the two in that room." "Thanks, Beth," Harm replied. "For everything." "You're welcome, Harm." He waited for her to leave, then went over to Meg. "Hey." "Hi," she muttered, not looking up. "You're looking pretty down for someone who just saved three people's lives." "I guess..." Meg stood up. Harm asked her what was wrong. "What's wrong? What's wrong?" she laughed. "Me, that's what's wrong! I spent the past 13 years or so pining after a man, never telling him my true feelings. He gets married and then I conspire with an attempted murdered to sabotage his marriage just so I can be with him! God, how did I turn out like this?" Harm wrapped his arms around his friend. "Meg, only you can answer that question. I want you to know that you still have a friend. He's standing right in front of you. I'm sorry that things didn't turn out the way you wanted them to." Meg smiled. "Thanks, Harm. I hope you don't take offense if I stay away for another year or so. This is still hard for me to adjust to. I would like to start all over again one day." She hugged him back and headed towards the elevator before he could say anything more. He smiled too. "So would I, Meg, so would I." |
