Meg was still staring at the door. Even though she knew Harm would forgive her one day, she had a feeling she lost a good friend. Someone who had always been kind to her. Loved her... even if it was like a sister. And Loren. The closest person to a friend she had these days had lied to her. "And I might as well have kidnapped the little girl," Meg muttered, walking towards the elevator. "Meg!" *Speak of the devil,* Meg thought drearily. "What are you doing here?" she asked. "Come to kidnap Harm's wife now?" "What are you talking about?" Loren asked in confusion. "I just spoke with him. I told him everything we did. And he told me why you were in jail." Loren crossed her arms. "So what's changed?" "My God, Loren! How can you even ask me that! You kidnapped a little girl! You lied to me about why you were in jail. I thought you were my friend." "I used you," Loren said simply. Meg gaped at her. "What?" "You heard me. I used you. I knew all about your 'infatuation' with Rabb. I wanted to get back at him and Mac for putting me through hell!" Loren grinned. "And you helped me. Thanks." Loren took one more look at the, according to her, pathetic woman and strolled down the hall to Mac's room. "Wait!" Meg cried. "Austin, leave me alone!" Loren growled. "What are you doing?" "Taking care of some unfinished business." She spied a security guard a few feet away. "Excuse me, sir. This woman is being rather rude and forceful." The guard walked over to them. "Ma'am, would you please come with me," he said to Meg. "But, she..." Loren missed the rest of the conversation as she slipped into Mac's room. *************** "Who were you talking to out in the hall?" Harm sat down with a sigh. He felt horribly defeated. "Harm, are you all right?" "Mac, that was the person who wrote the e-mail." Mac's eyes widened. "Why didn't you bring her in here?" "Because your face is red." "What?" Harm shook his head at the wonder that was his wife. "You would have lunged at her, IVs and all. You don't need to see her right now." "You know her, don't you?" Mac asked. "You've met her before today. Was it an old girlfriend?" "No, it was the last partner I had at JAG... and a friend of hers." Mac sat back. "Meg Austin?" Harm nodded. "Who's this friend of hers? Do you know her too?" Harm stood up and started pacing. "Um, you know her too." "I do?" "Yeah..." Harm was quiet. "So who is it?" she demanded. "Me." Harm whirled around to come face-to-face with Loren Singer and a gun. "Hello." |
