Maddie opened her eyes and noticed that she was being held. She looked tiredly up at the man. "Can I see my Mommy?" she whispered. "She's not feeling too well either, but since you won't see her for awhile, I guess it will be all right," Hodge replied, opening the door to the room Mac was in. Maddie gave her Mommy a kiss. "Mommy, get better soon, okay? Mr. Hodge is going to take me to Daddy and we'll see you later." Hodge grinned. Little kids could be so gullible. Harm and his children were never going to see Mac again. "Lets go, Maddie." With one last glance at Mac, Maddie walked over to Hodge, who picked her up. "I love you, Mommy." **************** Harm arrived at the appointed time just as another car pulled up. He took a deep breath and got out. Hodge opened the door and pulled someone out with him. It was Maddie. "Hello there, Captain Rabb," Hodge said, pushing Maddie towards Harm. He caught her before she fell to the ground. "Where's Mac?" "Resting comfortably with me. She'll be returned to you eventually," Hodge replied. "That is, unless she decides to stay." Harm glared at him as Maddie rested comfortably in his arms. "Why the hell are you doing this?" "Because I can. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a patient waiting on me. Maddie, it's been a pleasure. I'm sorry I couldn't make you better, but I have a more serious case to take care of." Maddie wordlessly lifted her head and stuck her tongue out at him. If Harm wasn't so worried about Mac, he would have laughed. There was nothing he could do. "Daddy, I wanna go home," Maddie whispered. "Okay, sweetie," he replied, watching Hodge drive away. He didn't notice the car that followed him. ************** Evelyn sighed in relief when she realized that Maddie was okay. She pulled out behind Hodge, knowing he would lead her to her mother. She could just imagine what her father would say if he knew what she was doing. Evelyn didn't care, she was going to stop this guy at any cost! People have terrorized her family enough, she thought angrily. Hodge pulled up in front of an ordinary two story house. It was immaculate. "God, everything's probably sterilized twice a day in there," she muttered, watching him head up the walkway. As soon as he was inside, she grabbed her gun and got out of the car. She tried the front door. He had left it unlocked! What an idiot! Evelyn cautiously opened the door, but saw no one. She did, however, hear footsteps upstairs. 'That's probably where he's keeping Mom', she thought to herself. She headed upstairs and went to the only room with the door open. Her eyes widened when she saw Mac lying unconscious on the bed. "Mom!" she cried. The door slammed shut and Evelyn turned around and came face to face with Hodge. "I knew you were following me. Welcome to my home, Evie." |
