Title: To Heal Rating: R Spoilers: Silent Service Summary: Chief Corpsman Hodge is back and he wants Mac. "If I fulfill this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot." ~Translation from the Greek by Ludwig Edelstein. From The Hippocratic Oath *************** Last scene from "Just Breath": Evelyn cleared her throat, wondering how she was going to tell him what she heard. She glanced up at him and he looked at her questioningly. "Chief Hodge escaped from Levenworth, Dad." Harm just stared at her. He had a horrible feeling that he knew what Hodge was planning. He took a deep breath. "Evie, have you told your Mom this yet?" "No, not yet. Your face lost it's color, Dad. Was he really that bad?" "We didn't go into details about what he did to us, but yeah, Evie." He went around his desk and picked up the phone. "Jenkins, get my wife on the line, please." "Aye, Sir!" He sat heavily in his chair. "I'm going to send the kids and Frank back to California for now, your Mom too, until Hodge is captured again," he told Evelyn. "Frank hasn't sold the house yet." "You really think Mom is going to go?" Evelyn asked, skeptically. "I'll make her." ************ "Mommy, I have to go!!" Maddie exclaimed. Mac nodded. "Okay, honey. Rena, you and the twins take Nicholas to the food court while I take Maddie to the bathroom." "Sure," Serena replied. "Come on, guys." Maddie pulled Mac along past the various shops. As soon as they entered, Maddie raced for an unoccupied stall. Mac had to laugh. "You know, if you really needed to go, you should have told me." "I did!" Maddie said. "Ahhh..." "Madison Anne, don't do that." "Sorry, Mommy." Mac felt the prick on her shoulder before she saw her attacker. She turned to face him and her eyes widened in recognition. "Maddie..." she whispered, losing consciousness. "I'm done," Maddie said, stepping out of the stall. She nearly screamed at the sight of her Mommy on the floor. "Mommy," she cried, shaking her. "Mommy, wake up!" She reached into Mac's purse and pulled out the phone just as it rang. Maddie jumped and dropped it. "Oh no, it's broken!" she cried. "Everything is going to be all right, Maddie," someone said. She looked up to see a guy she didn't know. "My name is David Hodge and I'm going to help you and your Mommy." Maddie took a few calming breaths. "I don't need help, she does." He had a needle in his hand. "This won't hurt at all, Maddie," he told her. "No!" It was too late, Maddie slumped to the floor next to her Mommy. Hodge grinned evilly. "Looks like there are some ladies who need saving." |
