"Harm, wait here while I go see what room she's in."

Harm nodded, although not pleased with being treated like a little kid. He saw movement in the corner of his eye. He turned his head and saw Singer grinning at him. Before he could say anything, she slipped into the fire exit.

"I don't think so," Harm said, getting out of the wheelchair and following her. "Singer," he yelled, "You might as well stop where you are."

"Harm, have you spoken with your wife lately?"

Harm advanced a step. Singer was on the flight of stairs below him. "What did you do to Serena?"

"Me?" she said, feigning innocent. "I didn't do anything. I can't help it if your daughter tried to get out of my car while it was moving. Good thing she didn't bruise."

"Good thing? She's here because of you."

Singer laughed. "Is she? Oh, that's horrible. So, Harm, you never did tell me. Did you get to read that note I sent to you and your wife?"

Harm was now on the landing, glaring at Singer. "What note?"

"If you divorce Mac and marry me, I won't kill her."

It was Harm's turn to laugh. "You have go to be joking. There's no way in hell I'd marry you!"

"Well," she said, pulling out a gun. "You'll have to be around your wife 24/7 if you don't want her dead."

"I swear if you hurt one hair on her head, I will--"

"Will what, Commander? Do you realize if you kill me after I kill your wife, you're children won't have any parents to take care of them!"

Harm knew that. He wasn't prepared to kill her. Just make her suffer. That's always fun... "I don't know who you think you are that you can just dictate everyone's lives, but it's getting old really fast, Singer."

"You know, this conversation is getting old." Singer sighed. She thought this was going to work. She thought he was going to see the light. "I guess we weren't meant for each other..."

Harm sighed with relief. "I'm glad you finally realized that."

"If I can't have you, neither can Mac."

"What?"

"You heard me," Singer replied. "Good bye, Commander," she said, firing the gun.

****************

"Sturgis, where's Harm?" Mac asked, coming out of the room.

Sturgis pointed to where he left him. "He was right there a minute ago. I swear we need a bell on that man! I'm sorry, Mac, I was trying to find out what room you were in."

"It's not your fault. We both know how stubborn he can be. Maybe one of the nurses know where he's at." Mac looked around and noticed a nurse who had been in the same spot since she went into Serena's room. "Excuse me, but did you see the man sitting in that wheelchair get up?"

The nurse nodded. "Yes, he followed someone down the stairs."

"Do you know what they looked like?" Sturgis asked.

"Not really. I was busy over here. I do know it was a female with blond hair. That's all I can tell you."

"Thank you," Mac replied. She turned to Sturgis. "Let's go!"

Just as the two opened the door, a shot rang through the stairwell. Mac's arms widened. "Wait!" Sturgis whispered. He grabbed her to keep from going down. "You go the nurses station and get help. You know Harm won't forgive me if I put his pregnant wife in danger."

Mac nodded. "As much as I hate this idea, I'll go along with it."

Sturgis waited until he knew Mac wasn't coming back, then descended the stairs. He could hear the distant footsteps of someone running to the basement.

Running down the next flight of stairs, Sturgis stop in his tracks. Harm was lying on the floor in a pool of blood!
