Mac led her wary children into the house. Harm had to stay overnight in the hospital for observation. "Mommy," Christiana whispered, pointing to the form on the couch. "What's that?" "I don't know... Evie keep them close, I'll check it out." She walked over quietly and cried in relief. "Rena!" "What?" The girls rushed over to their sister. "Rena, it's Mommy, wake up." Serena's eyes opened and she looked up to see her mommy. The little girl immediately wrapped her arms around her. "Are you all right, Rena? Are you hurt?" "No, she didn't hurt me," came the quiet response. "She gave me a note for you and Daddy, though." Mac took the note from her and read it to herself. Tears of anger flooded her eyes. Singer had gone too far this time! Evelyn was scared. She had never seen her Mommy in so much rage. She looked at Christiana and Trisha, who were also ready to cry. "Mommy, I'm going to take these two up to bed. Do you need anything?" "No," Mac replied, "thank you, honey." Evelyn nodded and took them upstairs. "Rena, are you all right, baby?" "Really, I'm fine. A little scared, I guess. Is Daddy okay?" Mac nodded. "He's going to be fine. I'm going to call the hospital to see if he's awake. He'll want to know you're safe at home." "Don't leave me alone!" Serena cried. "I wouldn't dream of it, Rena," Mac replied, carrying her to the phone. "You can talk to do Daddy to if he's awake." Serena nodded, lying her head on Mac's shoulder. ************ Harm was staring at nothing when the nurse entered the room. "Mr. Rabb, you're wife called. I'm going to transfer the call over here. I just wanted to make sure you were awake." "Thanks," Harm muttered. The phone rang five minutes later. "Hey Marine." "Hey yourself, Sailor. I have some news." "Please tell me she's all right!" "I'm fine, Daddy." Harm could hardly believe his ears. "Rena? Is that really you?" "Yes, Daddy. Are you okay?" "I am now that you're safe," Harm replied. "I love you, Rena." "I love you too, Daddy. Here's Mommy." "Mac, is she really okay?" he asked. "She's not the one you need to worry about," Mac said. "It's Singer." He was stunned into silence. "Harm, you with me?" "Yeah," he replied. "I'm coming home now." "Like hell you are! The doctor said you need to stay there for observation. You're not going to help anyone if you don't take care of yourself." Harm frowned. "Fine, but the minute the doctor says I can leave, I'm out of here." "And I'll be there to pick you up. Why don't you go ahead and get some sleep," she suggested. "I love you, Harm." "I love you too, Sarah. Give the girls hugs and kisses for me." "Will do, Sailor. Night." |
