Title: Complications
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: None
Summary: Mac has some complications with her pregnancy.

Mac felt ready to explode.  Being eight months pregnant did that to
you.  She glanced over at Harm, who was sound asleep.  She was so
jealous that he could.

They had just spent two hours telling Nicholas and the twins a PG-13
version of what happened to their family in the past.  They were
remotely okay with it, but had a lot of questions.

Which brought her back to the fact that she was so tired, she couldn't
sleep.  With a sigh, she kicked off the blankets, and slowly got  up.

The minute she stood, she knew something was wrong.  She felt a sharp
pain in her abdomen and cried out.  Harm was up and next to her in a
flash.  "Mac?"

"Oh God, Harm, it hurts!"

Harm was on full alert now as he zipped through the room, getting
himself and Mac dressed.  He was helping Mac up to leave when their
bedroom door opened.

Five sleepy-eyed children stared back them.  Evelyn was the first to
snap awake.  "What's wrong?"

"Evie, I need to get your Mom to the hospital.  I want you to call Aunt
Harriet."  Evelyn just stared at him.  She knew something wasn't right.
"Evie!" Harm exclaimed.

She shook her head.  "I'm sorry, yeah, I'll call her."

"Thank you, honey."

"Harm..."

"We're going now," he replied, helping his wife out the door.  The
children just watch in disbelief as Harm helped Mac down the stairs.

"Mom?" Haley said, looking over at Harriet.  "Are you sure you don't
want me to drive?"

Harriet nodded slowly, but then realized that Haley was probably right.
It would be much better if the teen drove.  She wordlessly handed the
keys over to her.

Haley gave Harriet a quick hug and got into the car.  Bud was going to
the hospital to keep Harm company.  Haley decided that her mother would
need some help with the Rabb children.

***************

Harm was pacing in the waiting room when Bud arrived.  He was so lost
in thought that he didn't hear his friend speak to him.  "Harm!"

"What?" Harm growled.  Realizing who was talking to him, Harm
apologized.

"You don't have to, Harm," Bud replied.  "I shouldn't have surprised
you like that."

Harm nodded.  "Thanks for coming, Bud."

"No problem.  Have you heard anything yet?"

"Not yet," Harm said, running a hand through his unruly hair.  "She was
just in so much pain..."

Bud put his hand on Harm's arm.  "I'm sure she'll be fine," he told
him.

"Harm."  He looked up to see Dr. Beth Michels heading over to them.
"Would you like to come with me?"

He glanced at Bud, who gave him an encouraging smile, and followed
Beth.  "How is she?"

"I won't lie to you, Harm, it doesn't look good.  We're going to have
to deliver the baby now."

Harm swallowed around the lump in his throat.  "But she's only 7
months along."

"I know, which is why this could get very complicated.  Sarah is stable
for right now so you can see her.  I'll need to get started in about
five minutes."

"Can I be in the room?" he asked.

Beth nodded.  "Of course you can.  Sarah will need you with her every
step of the way."
