Mac was pulling out of the parking to the doctor's office when her cell
phone rang.  "Sarah Mackenzie."

"Sarah, it's Frank," came the voice on the other end.  Mac knew this
wasn't something good.  Whenever Trish or Frank called, it was at their
home when they knew Harm would be there.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

Frank took a breath.  "It's Trish.  She's in the hospital, Sarah.  I
tried to call Harm at work, but he wasn't in his office and his cell
phone was turned off."

"He's in a meeting all day," she replied.  "Is Trish all right?"

"She had stroke.  The doctors aren't certain how long she'll last.
Sarah, I think Harm needs to be out here."

"You're right, Frank.  I'll go to Headquarters and talk to him myself.
I'll let you know our flight times."

"Thank you, Sarah."

She smiled sadly.  "You're welcome.  See you soon," she replied, then
pressed end.  She glanced up in the rear view mirror at Maddie.  She was
sound asleep.

Mac kept trying to hold in her tears, but she couldn't.  *Oh God,
Harm... How is he going to get through this?*

****************

Harm was heading to his office when a distraught looking Mac came in,
holding a sleeping Maddie.  Harriet saw her too and smartly took her.

"Thank you, Harriet," she whispered.  Harriet nodded, watching as Mac
headed over to her husband.

He could tell by her expression that something was wrong, but waited
until they were in the office to ask her about it.  "Mac, is Maddie
going to be all right?"

She nodded.  "Maddie's going to be find.  She has a moderate form of
asthma, but the doctor gave me a prescription for some medication."

"Then what is it?" he asked, taking her hands in his.

"Frank called."  Harm nodded slowly.  He had a sinking feeling in his
stomach he knew what it was about.  "Your mom's in the hospital."

"What happened?"

Mac pulled him close to her.  "A stroke, Harm."  She felt him hug her
tighter and the tears that dropped onto her shoulder.

"Mac," he said, after he had calmed down some what.

"Yeah, honey?"

"I want to bring the kids with us."

She nodded.  "They should be there.  Not only for Mom, but for you and
Frank as well."

"Where's Maddie?"

"With Harriet.  Do you want me to get her for you?"

"If you don't mind," he replied.  "I guess I'll ask Bud if he's
interested in being acting JAG for a while."

Mac smiled, thinking of one of the many times Harm was appointed acting
JAG.  He was leaning back too far in the Admiral's chair and fell over,
hitting his head.

About a year after they were married, Harm told her that he had been
hallucinating that she entered the office wearing an evening gown.

"Sarah?"

His voice broke her from the memory and she walked over to him,
planting a kiss on his lips.  "What is it?"

"You seemed to space out for a minute there."

"I'm all right.  Be right back."

Harm sat down with a sigh.  He knew that one day he'd lose his mother,
but he didn't think it would just jump out on them like this.  He shook
his head as Maddie came in.  He guessed Mac was out in the bullpen
talking to Harriet.

"Hi, Daddy."

He smiled.  "Hi, Angel."  He patted his lap.  "Come over here."

Maddie climbed onto her Daddy's lap.  "Mommy said Gramma's sick.  I
hope she gets better.  I don't know her too good."

"I hope she does too, Angel."

"I love you, Daddy," Maddie whispered, giving Harm a hug.

"I love you too."
