Mac rushed into the Emergency room, the children following closely behind her. She couldn't believe she was actually there again!

"Mac!" Someone called. She turned to see Sturgis walking over to them.

"Oh God, is he all right?" she asked.

"I don't know. The doctor hasn't come out yet."

"What happened?"

Sturgis shook his head. "We were in a meeting and Harm was complaining about it being really hot in the room. Before we knew it, he had passed out. Since he wasn't responding, Bud called an ambulance."

Mac nodded slowly. First their children almost lose her and now... this. Everything was swimming in and out of focus. She could hear Serena saying something, but she couldn't respond.

"Mom! Mom, the doctor wants to talk to you!"

That snapped her awake. She blinked a few times then glanced over at Sturgis. "Don't worry, I'll keep my eye on them," he told her.

"Thank you," she replied, following the doctor down the hall. "Is he going to be all right?"

"He'll be fine. He just needs plenty of rest."

"What happened to him?"

The doctor opened the door to room 42B. "A very mild heart attack. Since your husband's a vegetarian, it was most likely from stress."

Mac sighed. That wasn't very surprising to her. When she entered the room, she inaudibly gasped. Harm looked so still and peaceful lying there, but he was deathly pale.

"I gave him some medication so he's sleeping right now. He should wake up in the morning."

"Thank you for everything, Doctor."

He smiled. "You're welcome, Mrs. Rabb. If you need me, let one of the nurses know."

A few minutes later, Mac was on her own with Harm. She kissed his lips softly. "I love you, Flyboy."

****************

Harriet found Mac in the chapel later that day. "Sarah."

Mac looked up at her friend, tears streaming down her face. Harriet immediately rushed to her side. "God, Harriet, why do horrible things always happen to us?" she cried. "I don't even know how the kids have been able to get through everything. It's been one disaster after another. Is my family cursed?"

"Of course not, Sarah! I can't explain why things like this happen... I can't pretend to know what you're going through, but I want you to know that none of you are alone! We will always be here for each of you!"

"I know. And we'll be here for you guys too," Mac replied. She wiped away her tears. "Did my mascara run?"

Harriet giggled. "No. You look beautiful, Sarah."

"I'm sure," Mac said sarcastically.

"The children want to know if they can see their father. Do you think the doctor will okay that?"

Mac nodded. "I'm pretty certain. If he doesn't, I'll just have to break his legs."

"That should convince him," Harriet answered with a nod.
