Evelyn was scared to death, but she didn't show it. She was going to be a little Marine like her mother always wanted her to be. She had no idea why this bad people had done what they did, but she was determined to find out. The little girl jumped when the door slammed open.

"Well, Evelyn, we have some things to talk about." She was shaking as the scary woman came closer and closer to her. "Are you scared?" she asked.

"No!" Evelyn shook her head furiously. "My mommy told me that a Marine is never scared!"

"Oh, you're a Marine are you?" Evelyn nodded. "What would say if I told you that your Mommy was scared to death. That she's crying right now?"

Evelyn glared at her. "I'd say you were a big, fat liar!"

The woman glared back, tempted to strike her, but she didn't. "All right, I'm going to ask you a few questions, and then I'm going bring you to your Mom." Evelyn continued to glare at her.

"Okay, have you ever heard your Mommy or Daddy talk about Corporal John Anderson?"

"What's your name?"

"Forget it and answer my questions!" she screamed.

"NO! I won't answer anything until you tell me your name!"

She gave up. "Fine, you can call me Annie. Now, Evelyn, have you ever heard the name Corporal John Anderson?"

"Evelyn Rose Rabb. Little Marine. 8-14-99."

Annie almost laughed. This five year old child had just given her name, rank, and serial number. "You little brat!" she exclaimed, taking Evelyn by the wrist. Evelyn cried out because it was the one she hurt in the car accident. "David! Throw her in with her sister and bring Colonel MacKenzie in here ASAP!"

"Yes, Ma'am!"

**************

Mac was able to give Evelyn a hug before they forced her out of the room. "I'll be all right, girls!" she called after them.

"Colonel Mackenzie, I told you that you shouldn't lie to your children," Annie said with her arms crossed. "Have a seat." Mac did so. "You taught your daughter well. I asked her a question and she responded with name, rank, and serial number."

Mac smirked at that as David tied her to the chair. "I knew that would come in handy."

"Shut up, Colonel!" Annie snapped. "Now, since Evelyn didn't answer the questions, I'm going to ask you. And we both know who's going to get hurt if I don't get an answer."

"Fine," Mac said with sigh. "But I want to know who you are first. I can't just call you "bitch", can I?"

That pissed Annie off and she back handed Mac. If Mac hadn't been tied to a chair, there would have been a cat fight. "There's always time for that," she mused to herself.

"The names Annie Forrester, Colonel."

Mac flinched. She knew exactly who this person was. Her brother-in-law had been accused of attempted murder. She and Harm prosecuted that case and won...effectively sending him to jail.

There was supposed to be an appeal coming up, but Harm and Mac weren't on the case. "I see you remember me. I came to visit you that fateful day for John last year."

"Yes, I remember," Mac replied. "What the hell is going on? What do you need me for?"

Annie glared at Mac. "I want him out of jail! He's innocent! I want to know what you two were planning on doing in court on Monday."

"Nothing, we're not handling the case. Not that anything is going to happen with that now."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Annie exclaimed.

Mac rolled her eyes. "Are you that stupid? You killed my husband! You'll probably end up joining John in jail instead of getting him out!"

That got Annie angrier than she was before. She grabbed the gun David had on him and pointed it at Mac. "You will tell me one way or another, Colonel." She looked at David. "Get me the little one."

"But, Annie!"

"Do it!" David nodded and left to get Serena. He was back five minutes later.

"Mommy!"

"It's all right, honey," Mac said.

Annie took Serena from David and nodded to him. He punched Mac in the face. Mac tried to stifle a cry as she felt bones crack. "MOMMY!" Serena was struggling in Annie's grasp. "MOMMY!"

"Now Colonel, tell me what your planning or Serena's next."

"Annie, I can't tell you what I don't know!"

"Fine, I'll just have to..." Annie trailed off. An idea popped into her head. She knew Harm was still alive. "Nevermind.  David, bring them both into the room. I have a better idea."
